Age of Ruin Drop Crushing New Single & Video, Falling

Washington, D.C. metalcore veterans Age of Ruin are back with new music. They just released a single and video for a track called “Falling,” their first fresh material since last year’s album, Nothingman.

Nothingman, for those who missed it, was an album title that perfectly summed up both the bleakness of the human spirit and, apparently, the market value of their tour van. “Falling” sees the band violently leaning back into their roots. It delivers the kind of punishing, primitive riffage that will make you want to start throwing elbows in a pottery store, especially if you grew up on Roots-era Sepultura or Kingdom of Lost Souls-era Damnation A.D.

But it’s not all neck-snapping brutality. As the despair builds, the mood actually shifts to something that hints at optimism. When frontman Ben’s vocals hit with “the lines begin to blur around me”—which normally sounds like a medical emergency—it somehow feels like a rare crack of hope. It’s a powerful shift, like a storm finally breaking, leaving signs of rebirth. This track is sonic proof that even after all this time, Age of Ruin can still find a bit of light.

“Age Of Ruin is still roaring, still thrashing, and still creating with the fire of musicians who understand what heavy music is meant to be, loud, human, and honest.”
