Snowing Down South Return with New Single “Take It Or Leave It”

South African alternative rock group Snowing Down South are back. The band just released their new single, “Take It Or Leave It,” marking the first track from their upcoming EP, No Such Place As Far Away.

Snowing Down South

Formed in 2011, Snowing Down South built a following on campus rock radio before going their separate ways in 2015. They eventually reunited in 2023 after a late-night session reminded them of why they started playing together in the first place. Now, they are moving forward with a more refined sound that mixes indie and progressive rock textures.

The Message Behind the Music

The new track was written in 2022 during a period of reflection for the band. They cite philosopher Alan Watts and his message that “you are enough” as a primary influence. The song deals with the balance between trying to be better and accepting who you are right now.

“Although it’s important to grow and improve yourself, we realised you also have to make peace with who you are right now. The world around you can either take it or leave it.”

Frontman Paul Siebert originally wrote the song on an acoustic guitar before the rest of the band added their own layers. The result is a track that emphasizes accountability and the liberation that comes with walking away from things you can’t change.
