THE MODERN AGE SLAVERY Drops The War Within Video, New EP Announced

Italian deathcore outfit The Modern Age Slavery just released “The War Within,” a new single and video. It’s the second track from their upcoming EP, 1969 | No One Jokes at God, which is set to drop in Fall 2026. This EP is also the second part of a larger concept trilogy.

“The War Within” is out now, and you can watch the official video below:

The song is available on all major streaming platforms. The band says the phrases that best summarize “The War Within” are:

“we are not that evil, in the end” and “it’s always darkest, before the dawn.”

The track talks about an encounter between generations and the forgiveness of the new generation towards the old one. It connects to the band’s second album, Requiem For Us All, but allows for a new beginning and forgiveness for past mistakes.

The Trilogy Concept

Back in 2022, The Modern Age Slavery started on a new journey: a trilogy of releases exploring human self-imposed slavery across three different historical eras.

The first chapter, the 2023 album 1901 | The First Mother, came out via Fireflash Records / Atomic Fire. Its concept was inspired by writers and philosophers of the “modern age,” with 1901 being the year Queen Victoria passed away.

Now we have the second chapter, 1969 | No One Jokes at God. This EP recalls the symbolic start of hipster culture at Woodstock and the swift shift from equality ideals to the worldwide decay that came after.

The EP was produced by The Modern Age Slavery themselves. Guitarist Luca Cocconi handled engineering duties with Simone Sighinolfi, who also took care of mixing and mastering at Audiocore Studio near Parma, Italy.

Look for the 1969 | No One Jokes at God EP to arrive in Fall 2026.

The Modern Age Slavery emerged from Italy’s deathcore scene by developing a sound with grinding blast beats, brutal vocals, and rapid-fire double bass. After their demo was chosen as “Demo of the Month” by Rock Hard Germany, they signed with Napalm Records.

They’ve toured Europe extensively, headlining and supporting bands like Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Obscura, Malevolent Creation, and Vomitory. They’ve also played selected shows with Fleshgod Apocalypse, Sepultura, Decapitated, and Suicide Silence.

Their second album, Requiem For Us All, mixed fast drumming, technical riffing, epic atmospheres, and crushing groove. MetalSucks listed it as one of the best metal albums of the year. This led to more touring with bands like Gorgoroth, Vital Remains, and Hypocrisy.

Their last full-length, Stygian, brought in black metal riffs, keyboards, atmospheres, and orchestral elements, earning them more acclaim and tours with Ingested, Vader, and Entombed A.D. Before the pandemic, they played with Jinjer, Decapitated, and Incite, and have since hit big festivals with Slipknot, Sabaton, and Behemoth.

Keep an eye out for 1969 | No One Jokes at God this Fall, and crank “The War Within” in the meantime. m/
