Relic: Milwaukee Veterans Form New Blackened Death Metal Project
A new blackened death metal entity has emerged from the Milwaukee scene. Comprised of several local veterans, Relic is scheduled to release their debut EP, Crown of Flies, on April 3. The release will be available on CD and digital formats.

The Lineup
Relic features a roster of musicians with deep roots in the Wisconsin metal underground, including members of Jungle Rot and Micawber:
- Kevin Forsythe (Jungle Rot, Emblazoned) – Guitar / Bass
- Jeff Plewa (Micawber, Emblazoned) – Vocals
- Alex “Pulverizer” Pulvermacher (Decrescent, Emblazoned) – Drums
- Vinny Alvarez (A Night At The Chalet, Slam Pig) – Guitar
Old School Intent
The band stays away from modern gimmicks or scene trends, focusing instead on a blend of 90s-style blackened death metal. The sound leans into the dissonant riffing of death metal paired with the speed of black metal. It’s a focused effort from a group of seasoned players who aren’t interested in fluff.
Crown of Flies was recorded at Belle City Sound in Racine, Wisconsin, with production by Chris Wisco. Mixing and mastering were handled by Billy Diamond, while the cover art was created by Sant V. Schreiber.
