Towards The Inevitable is a split release between the band’s newly formed An Eastern Temple Productions and Thus Spake Qayin Records. This marks the thirteenth title for Thus Spake Qayin.
Formed by guitarist/vocalist Grigori, TELOCH VOVIN operates as a conceptual project focused on the worship and ritual workings with the forces of khaos, entropy, and death. Their name itself is Enochian; “teloch” translates to “death” and “vovin” to “dragon,” a reference to Samael, the dragon of death.
The band has built a rabid regional fanbase, sharing stages with groups like Black Witchery, Negative Plane, Grave Gnosis, Kult Ov Azazel, Mortician, and Shining. They even kept busy during the pandemic, performing live streams and releasing multiple self-produced tracks.
With Towards The Inevitable, TELOCH VOVIN combines black metal with elements of traditional, death, and doom metal, along with classical and ambient/electronic sounds. These influences are tied into the occult practice behind TELOCH VOVIN, creating a musical sound that is raw and violent, yet also captivating and hypnotic.
The songs for this record were initially laid down several years ago for a different split release that never happened. But they’ve been revamped and updated with crushing production, capturing the band’s aggression and entrancing sound.
Drums were recorded/engineered by Ash at The Percussion Bunker. Saturnus handled bass at The Grotto, and C.O.S. recorded his guitars at Wind’s Lord Studios. Grigori took care of his guitars and all vocal recordings, as well as the album’s mixing/mastering duties, alongside Mike Usifer (Prime Evil) at Usifer Sound Studios and Aural Assault Studio. Usifer has since officially joined the band.
The album also features a guest guitar solo by Sebastian Ramstedt (Necrophobic, Elfödd, In Aphelion), Hebrew language passages spoken by Avi Levi, and classical elements of violin, viola, and cello performed and recorded by Ben Karas for the four-part closing suite “Panzer Fist.” Stephen Morris and Grigori contributed additional classical compositions.
Artwork credits go to Eam XI for the front cover, Zeroth Q-ayn for the inside artwork. Photography by David Simmons and Casey Heney, and layout by The Temple Of The Headless One.
