Sectarian Defacement Announce Brutal Debut Album ‘Hostile Consuming Rapture’

Kyiv, Ukraine’s brutal death metal trio, Sectarian Defacement, are set to drop their debut full-length album, ‘Hostile Consuming Rapture,’ on April 6. Grave Island Records will handle the release.

After their ‘Chaotic Demiurge’ EP, the band has pushed their sound, making it heavier and more focused. The album is raw, aggressive brutal death metal. It has technical riffs, grinding parts, and groove-driven sections that keep things tight and memorable. Sectarian Defacement isn’t following the polished “slamcore” trend. This is something far more extreme and brutal. The sound is raw, heavy, and direct – it hits with the force of a blunt weapon.

Lyrically, Sectarian Defacement also touch on darker historical themes, specifically covering crimes committed under the Soviet regime.

Band Members Speak

“As a composer, I wanted to create not only aggressive and extremely heavy music, but also combine a brutal sound with more groovy and catchy elements. It would be cool to create something unique, something that would be different from the oversaturated crowd of similar sounding bands, and have its own recognizable SD branded style.” – Nazar (guitar/vocals)

“As a soundman, I wanted to create a unique mix, that would not sound like all those ‘slamcore’ mixes. No offense to bands that do trendy overproduced mixes, but I wanted to hear something both modern and brutal. My take was to give Old school slam’s sound it’s logical modernization. Main influences were – Supply of Flesh Came Just in Time by Craniotomy, Goresoaked Clinical Accidents by Aborted Fetus, Tortured Whole and Homicidal Ecstasy by Sanguisugabogg, and Dissect, Molest, Ingest by Amputated.” – Anton (bass)

“I am happy to be able to talk to the audience through our music, and I really enjoy the fact that we are one of the few bands who talk about crimes of soviet union, particularly it is really important for western listeners to hear the truth. We tried our best to make the music sound interesting, in my opinion we managed to do it, and we will continue doing it in future.” – Viktor (drums)

If you’re into bands like Cryptopsy, Devourment, Brodequin, or Deeds of Flesh, then ‘Hostile Consuming Rapture’ is a release to keep an eye on.
